Fire Officer Job Description

The primary objective of this role is to ensure fire safety at your designated site. You will be responsible for overseeing the effective use of assigned apparatus and adhering to command structure instructions for fire suppression or related emergency services.

Your duties will encompass:

  • Equipment Preparation: Perform equipment setup upon arrival at a fire scene.
  • ERT Dispatch and Accompaniment: Dispatch and accompany the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Fire Safety Training: Prepare and execute fire and life safety evacuation drills and trainings for team members and premises occupants.
  • Rescue and Firefighting Operations: Complete rescue, firefighting, and salvage operations at fire scenes.
  • Trapped Individuals Rescue: Determine if individuals are trapped within a burning facility and take appropriate actions for their rescue.
  • Lift Evacuation Drills: Perform lift evacuation and rescue drills periodically.
  • Structural Securing: Secure affected structures to prevent rekindling.
  • Equipment Inventory: Take inventory of all equipment after suppression and record items left at the site, along with incident reports.
  • Pre-Fire Planning Studies: Attend and provide information for pre-fire planning studies and maintain updated knowledge of pre-fire plans.
  • Government Liaison: Liaise with Government authorities for periodic NOC renewals.
  • Incident Reporting: Report and maintain records of all site incidents.
  • Maintenance and Training Records: Keep updated checklists and records for fire equipment maintenance and training.

Reporting Structure: You will report to the Fire Safety Manager/Property Manager as applicable.

Essential Qualities:

To excel in this role, you should possess analytical and meticulous qualities. Ensure that all fire and life safety systems installed in the premises operate effectively and efficiently, providing criteria for determining the number or type of fire equipment needed in a given area.

Qualifications:

You will require a Diploma/Degree in Fire Engineering or Fire Safety, coupled with 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
