Our business is seeking a Lead Generative AI Engineer to join our freelance network. This network comprises senior, consultative individuals who partner with us on pre-sales activities, discovery sessions, and short-term proof-of-concept projects.

The role requires established independent consultants comfortable with short-notice engagements and open to fractional or project-based work.

Solution Leadership:

  • Engage directly with clients to understand their business challenges and lead the ideation and design of innovative Generative AI solutions.
  • Translate client needs into actionable solution concepts, defining the architecture, data strategy, model selection, and tooling required for success.

Project Ownership:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of GenAI solutions, ensuring technical quality, alignment with business goals, and timely execution of project milestones.
  • Guide and mentor cross-functional teams, including other engineers and data scientists, fostering best practices and ensuring project accountability.

While leading the project, remain hands-on with tools, models, and code to prototype, build, and troubleshoot complex components of the application.

Stakeholder Management:

Collaborate with internal teams to co-develop tailored proposals, Statements of Work (SOWs), and implementation roadmaps.

Proven experience leading technical teams and taking ownership of the design, development, and deployment of AI-driven solutions.

A deep understanding of Generative AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, embeddings, and agentic systems.

Ability to develop and deploy GenAI solutions using Python and relevant frameworks, as well as experience with cloud-based ML/AI services such as AWS Sagemaker, Azure OpenAI, or Google Vertex AI.

Prior experience in a consulting, pre-sales, or freelance capacity is strongly preferred, demonstrating an ability to work effectively with external clients.

Comfort with the dynamic nature of short-term PoC projects where requirements may evolve.
