Database Administrator Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced database administrator to oversee the administration and maintenance of DMSII databases on Unisys mainframes.

  • This is a key position responsible for ensuring smooth database operations, with hands-on experience in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Main Responsibilities:
  1. Database Administration: Perform installations, configurations, upgrades, and monitoring of database performance, space utilization, and availability.
  2. Data Management: Manage database sets, subsets, and indexes for efficient data access, ensure proper backup and recovery procedures, and support schema changes and database reorganizations.
  3. Troubleshooting: Collaborate with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance issues, participate in disaster recovery testing, and ensure compliance with backup policies.
  4. Security: Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
