Senior Database Expert

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Expert to join our team. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role
  • This is a senior-level position responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale database systems.
  • You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of databases with applications.
  • Your expertise in database security, backup, and recovery will play a critical role in ensuring business continuity.
Responsibilities
  1. Data Management: Design, implement, and maintain large-scale database systems to meet business requirements.
  2. Database Administration: Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of database systems.
  3. Collaboration: Work closely with application teams to integrate databases seamlessly.
  4. Security and Compliance: Implement best practices for database security, backup, and recovery.
  5. Metrics and Analysis: Monitor and analyze database metrics to optimize performance.
  6. Expertise and Support: Provide database expertise to engineering teams and support production incidents.
  7. Automation: Automate database infrastructure and develop self-service tools.
  8. Documentation: Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 4-8 years of experience running MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in large environments.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Awareness of cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
  • Database Internals: Knowledge of the internals of MySQL/PostgreSQL.
  • Load Balancing: Knowledge of load balancing solutions like ProxySQL.
  • Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with tools and methods for monitoring database performance.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Caching: Knowledge of caching solutions (Redis/Elasticache).
  • Scripting Languages: Familiarity with scripting languages (Python).
  • Infrastructure Automation: Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools (Terraform/Ansible).
