Job Overview

The primary objective of this role is to provide dedicated Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) support in order to ensure that Novartis maintains a high standard of HSE resilience and sustainability across its operational portfolio.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Novartis systems to verify compliance with HSE-related responsible procurement commitments.
  • Execute risk assessments of selected business-critical third-party suppliers.
  • Contribute to the overall third-party supplier improvement program.
  • Foster a culture of EPRM by following established processes, standards, and tracking findings to support supplier oversight on HSE aspects.
  • Drive sustainability targets with suppliers through timely reviews and monitoring.
  • Summarize key learnings and share where appropriate within the Region and ESO.
  • Execute HSE upfront due diligence assessments of new third-party and existing suppliers in accordance with internal guidance and synergy with HSE ERC and EPRM Operations.
  • Monitor and review HSE-relevant events at the supplier's base.
  • Timely reviews and monitors mitigation actions with the supplier resulting from HSE non-compliance and environment sustainability commitments.
  • Contributes to develop and maintain a third-party risk portfolio supporting HSE risk and opportunity assessment.
  • Ensures regular HSE training for all internal personnel involved in the third-party process in the country and region.

Desirable Requirements:

Work Experience:

  • Graduate in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or postgraduate.
  • 5-10 years of HSE work experience in the chemical/pharmaceutical industry with 1-2 years in medium/large sites or large organizations.
  • Should have conducted HSE audits as lead auditor or co-auditor for HSE management systems including local legal regulations.
  • Certified HSE auditor by training through internal courses or reputable organizations or Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 systems.
