Job Role:

Strategic Sourcing Professional

Sun Life is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to provide sourcing value within the Procurement Centre of Excellence for various business categories. The successful candidate will identify and manage relationships with key stakeholders, execute the sourcing process, and support clients on related governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and manage the sourcing process for high volume, low risk engagements with a focus on prompt turnaround.
  • Lead clients through the sourcing process, including contract negotiations and execution, risk and governance support, and approvals.
  • Assess and resolve procurement issues, including contractual terms and conditions, and escalations by internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Apply project management concepts to the planning and execution of the sourcing process.
  • Ensure all related governance processes and policies are adhered to and completed prior to final approval.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant sourcing/procurement experience.
  • Proven expertise leading sourcing initiatives, processes, and developing strategies.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Familiarity with vendor contract language, SAP Ariba Contracts and Sourcing Modules.
  • Understanding of general procurement challenges and solutions.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Effective client relationship management skills.
  • Financial Analysis skills, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Confidence in ability to lead negotiations to conclusion.
  • Ability to work with internal legal counsel and other stakeholders.

Assets:

  • Experience with SAP Ariba Contracts and Sourcing Modules.
  • Familiarity with third party risk for Financial Service Institutions.
