Mechanical Engineer – Water Treatment Specialist

• Lead and oversee the mechanical design of water, wastewater, and desalination projects, ensuring efficient and effective systems.
• Develop process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment layouts for treatment facilities, promoting collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing for pumps, pipes, and other mechanical components, guaranteeing reliable system performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with other engineering disciplines, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Manage and mentor junior designers and drafters in the use of Revit, Plant 3D, and AutoCAD software, empowering them to succeed in their roles.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations in mechanical system designs, upholding the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
• Prepare technical specifications and equipment data sheets for procurement purposes, facilitating smooth project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred, reflecting a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
• 5-10 years of experience in the water/wastewater industry, with a focus on process mechanical design for treatment facilities, highlighting a deep understanding of the sector.
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, demonstrating a strong foundation in engineering principles and practices.
• Proven expertise in using Revit, Plant 3D, and AutoCAD for water market-related designs, as well as proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as WaterGEMS or InfoWater, enhancing technical capabilities.
• Demonstrated experience in project management, including budget control, resource allocation, and timeline adherence, showcasing leadership and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of teamwork and cooperation.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences, presenting with clarity and confidence.
• In-depth knowledge of AWWA, ANSI, ASME, and other relevant industry standards and regulations, upholding the highest level of professionalism and expertise.
• Experience with sustainable design practices and familiarity with LEED certification processes, embracing environmental responsibility and social awareness.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presentations, enhancing productivity and efficiency.
• Ability to perform site visits and field work, which may involve climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 30 pounds, showcasing adaptability and resilience.
