Airport Infrastructure Design Engineer

This role involves designing and developing airport infrastructure including airfield and landside facilities such as runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, and parking areas. The engineer will work on geometric design, grading, earthworks, signing & marking, simulation, and BIM integration to produce accurate and standards-compliant design packages.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Designing and preparing detailed geometric designs for airside and landside areas;
  • Developing grading plans, cut-and-fill calculations, and earthworks balance for airside and landside areas;
  • Producing design drawings and BoQs extracted from BIM models;
  • Designing airfield and landside signing & marking layouts in accordance with international aviation and road design standards;
  • Supporting stand and gate design optimization ensuring safe aircraft operations and adequate integration of fueling pits, ground power, pre-conditioned air (PCA), and GSE routes;

Additionally, the role involves:

  • Using AviPLAN for aircraft movement simulation, apron/stand clearance checks, and taxiway layout validation;
  • Conducting GSE simulations to optimize apron operations and gate service layouts;
  • Applying BIM tools (Navisworks, Civil 3D) for 3D coordination, clash detection, and multi-discipline integration;

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Specialized training in airport/transportation design software is an asset;
  • 4 plus years of experience in airport or transportation infrastructure design;
  • Proven track record in geometric design of airside and landside infrastructure;
  • Experience with signing & marking design, grading, BoQ preparation, and simulation;
  • Strong background in multidisciplinary coordination with drainage, utilities, and fueling systems;

Key skills and competencies required for this role include:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, AviPLAN, BIM (Navisworks);
  • Strong knowledge of international aviation and road design standards;
  • Ability to apply codes and standards directly in design solutions;
  • Solid understanding of aircraft operational envelopes, turning radii, and clearance requirements;
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and coordination skills;
