Employee Benefit Plan Practice Specialist

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience
Job Description:
As an Employee Benefit Plan Practice Specialist at Smith-Howard, you will play a crucial role in conducting audits of employee benefit plans, including 401(k) retirement plans, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and reporting requirements.
You will be responsible for reviewing and understanding plan provisions, ensuring the plan complies with regulatory requirements, and performing testing on contributions, distributions, and plan operation. Additionally, you will prepare and review financial statements for employee benefit plans, ensuring proper presentation and disclosure in compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited university
- Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or currently progressing towards a CPA or CA certification is a plus
- 2 to 3 years of public accounting experience, or experience working with a U.S. CPA firm's back office or provider (e.g., in India)
- Employee Benefit Plan Audit Experience: Experience specifically in auditing employee benefit plans (such as pension plans and health plans) with 1+ years of relevant experience
