Hydrologist and Dam Break Specialist

As a subject matter expert, you will lead the preparation and finalization of technical documents following standards from civil engineering codes and international best practices. You should have a degree in civil engineering with post-graduate studies in hydraulic or hydrology and at least 15 years of experience in hydrological and hydraulic modeling using MIKE, HEC-HMS, or other advanced tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for all tasks related to dam break analysis and inundation mapping.
  • Lead the preparation and finalization of technical documents following international best practices.
  • Provide technical support for the development and implementation of emergency action plans.
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultation meetings.
  • Review and finalize plans presented by project teams.

You will design and deliver customized training courses on dam break analysis, inundation mapping, preparation and implementation of emergency action plans, and conduct capacity-building programs for water resources management authorities. Your duties will also include conducting integrated flood routing studies, assisting in finalizing integrated operations of important reservoirs, undertaking need-based flood routing studies, and developing and implementing training calendars.

You must be able to contribute data and insights to national databases, support the development of in-house expertise at select institutions, participate in national and international conferences via paper submissions and presentations, and perform any other activities assigned by the project director.
