Financial Manager Job Overview

This role is responsible for managing project finances, preparing budgets and forecasts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop project budgets, annual plans, and rolling forecasts to ensure financial stability.
  • Manage project invoicing, tax issues, bonds, and guarantees, ensuring compliance with accounting rules and regulations.
  • Optimize project cash flow, revenues, and gross margin contribution by analyzing costs and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities, ensuring timely implementation of required actions.
  • Review and have joint responsibility for all financial aspects of the project, including estimate at completion and related cost-to-complete, forecasted revenues and cash flow, risks and opportunities assessment, and ensure alignment with other functions.
  • Promote commercial awareness in the project team and provide commercial input to the project execution plan.

  • Coordinate with clients for invoice approval, payments, and compliance purposes.
  • Maintain an updated billing register capturing details of all billings till date, status on approval, payment, various deductions with categories and reasons, follow-up to collect amounts deducted.
  • Monitor and control site expenses, weekly reporting of project expenses in a specified format, and reconciliation of SAP entries with invoices.
  • Analyze actual vs. budget costs and revenue on the project, highlighting potential issues to the controller manager and project managers.
  • Lead the activity of project actualization (actua) at HO-defined frequency, coordinate with the project team to get the required data, discuss with the controller manager to prepare finance-related slides in actua presentation, upload the actua in SAP post approval from required people.
  • Review Kappa against budgeted costs and highlight in case of costs exceeding the budget, check that adequate documents are attached with the Kappa.
  • Share project slides for monthly business review in accordance with the timeline defined by the project team, keeping the controller manager in loop.
  • Conduct comprehensive checks on provisions to ensure accuracy, completeness for monthly closing, and in line with accounting rules and HO instructions.
  • Perform monthly cash verification and surprise verification at least once a month, report results to the HO team (controller manager and IFC team).
  • Lead and supervise compliance on Internal Financial Controls (IFC) as defined by HO in the Risk and Control Matrix (RCM).
  • Monitor ABG, PBG, any other guarantees, insurances to ensure timely renewal, reduction as per contractual conditions.
  • Comply with tax regulations.
  • Provide support to the execution team and become an integral part of the project team, providing finance-related support on-site.
  • Anticipate issues, discuss with the controller manager, and take proactive actions to resolve issues.
  • Timely fill man-days for self against respective projects.
  • Check that timesheets of staff working on his project are filled timely and properly.
  • Supervise day-to-day work of site accountant, provide guidance and support for efficient conduct of site tasks.
  • Support central controlling team on various analyses, ad-hoc requests.
