Senior IT Consultant Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned IT professional to fill the position of Senior IT Consultant.

  • The ideal candidate will have around 6-10 years of experience in server management and administration, specifically with Linux.

The successful candidate should be proficient in server installation, maintenance, and decommissioning. They should also possess profound knowledge of Linux OS operations.

A strong understanding of hypervisor operations (XEN and VMware) is necessary as well. The ability to troubleshoot server down situations effectively is crucial for this role.

In addition to these skills, the candidate should have associate-level knowledge of at least one public cloud landscape (AWS, Azure, GCP). Basic knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Chef) and scripting languages (e.g., bash, Perl) is also desirable.

The ideal candidate will be able to provide knowledge transfer from certain technology areas to second-level technical support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver third-level technical support in compliance with customer SLAs
  • Daily compute operations (events, incidents, SR, CR, RCA) following ITIL processes
  • Server installation, maintenance, monitoring, decommission, and special configurations beyond automated tasks
  • Storage operations based on NetApp-NFS
  • Package/repository management and OS image maintenance
  • Patch Management using BladeLogic Automation
  • Server-related monitoring/alert configuration and rollouts
  • Performance tests and analysis
  • Root cause analysis for customer incidents
  • Service/task documentation, testing, quality management, and knowledge transfer
  • Assist second-level technical support in complex tasks
