Job Description:

The Team Lead for General Ledger & Financial Accounting will be responsible for overseeing the entire financial accounting operations of the organization. This includes managing periodic financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and designing comprehensive controls and budgets to mitigate risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including designing an organizational structure that achieves the department's goals and objectives.
  2. Manage daily operations, including month and end-year processes, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.
  3. Ensure timely reporting of monthly financial information.
  4. Collaborate with other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
  5. Monitor and analyze department work to develop efficient procedures and resource utilization while maintaining accuracy.
  6. Advise staff on non-routine reporting transactions.
  7. Respond to inquiries from the director of finance, firm-wide manager, and other finance and firm-wide managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
  8. Work with the controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
  9. Supervise the general ledger group to meet all financial reporting deadlines.
  10. Assist in developing and implementing new procedures and features to enhance department workflow.
  11. Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  12. Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
  13. Work with direct reports to establish annual goals and objectives and monitor progress for professional development.
  14. Support the controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
