Job Summary:

This role involves working as a professional estimator to provide accurate cost estimates for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering and relevant industry experience.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed capital cost estimates for construction projects, taking into account various factors such as materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Offer expert advice on building economics, tendering procedures, and contract arrangements to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Draft comprehensive contract packages, including recommendations for amendments to standard forms.
  • Develop pricing documents for tender packages, considering all relevant factors.
  • Evaluate commercial aspects of tender submissions, negotiate with tenderers, and resolve any disputes.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with 5-10 years' experience in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of QS and cost management processes, including the ability to interpret drawings for quantification.
  • Chartered QS status under a recognized organization (e.g., RICS, SCSI, AIQS, NZIQS).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and IT literacy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the capacity to work rapidly and accurately under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and departments across global offices located in the US.
