Cloud Infrastructure Expert

We're seeking a seasoned cloud infrastructure expert to lead the evaluation and transformation of existing enterprise cloud setups for our clients.

About the Role
  • Evaluate client GCP environments to identify areas for improvement and develop clear recommendations for change.
  • Implement changes safely using Infrastructure as Code where possible, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Advise on infrastructure impacts for new software systems we're developing, ensuring smooth deployment and minimal disruption.
Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess current-state GCP setups, delivering comprehensive improvement plans that meet client needs.
  2. Optional: Implement and maintain IaC across projects, establishing reusable modules and guardrails for efficient scaling.
  3. Design and modify architectures using GCP services, including VPC, subnets, Cloud NAT, Load Balancing, and IAM.
  4. Build and run workloads on GKE and/or Compute Engine, containerising where sensible and tuning autoscaling for optimal performance.
  5. Configure Cloud SQL, Spanner, Memorystore, and BigQuery as relevant, implementing backup/restore and HA/DR patterns for data reliability.
  6. Set up CI/CD pipelines with policy checks and environment promotion, ensuring seamless deployment and testing.
  7. Implement monitoring/alerting with Cloud Monitoring & Logging, SLOs/error budgets for proactive issue resolution.
  8. Harden security through SCC, IAM least-privilege, org policies, VPC-SC, and private access, advising on compliance requirements.
  9. Optimise costs through rightsizing, committed use/Autopilot, storage lifecycle management, and data egress pattern analysis.
Your Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure with 3+ years on GCP, demonstrating expertise in VPC design, routing/NAT, load balancing, IAM, GKE/containers, and Linux fundamentals.
  • Optional: Strong IaC skills, comfortable with Git workflows, and experience introducing controls like org policies, folder/project structure, billing budgets/alerts, and SCC.
  • Proven ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and deliver safely in regulated/enterprise contexts, with excellent English oral communication skills.
