Job Title: Advanced Helmet Program Manager

Description:

To lead the advanced helmet program with end-to-end accountability for design, R&D, electronics integration, mechanical performance, quality compliance, and production readiness.

The role emphasizes innovation, integration of electronic sub-systems (sensors, communication, power), and ensuring helmet solutions meet operational requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Execution and Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the technology roadmap in alignment with defence goals.
  • Identify Advancements: Identify advancements in smart helmet systems.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate across R&D, electronics, mechanical, and procurement teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions.

Product Development & Innovation:

  • Drive Integration: Drive integration of electronics in helmets.
  • Oversee Design: Oversee mechanical design for ergonomics, modularity, durability, and weight optimization.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with defence and electronics standards.
  • Supervise Prototypes: Supervise prototype development, lab/field testing, and system validation.

Operations & Manufacturing:

  • Tech-Transfer: Support tech-transfer and pilot production readiness.
  • Seamless Integration: Ensure seamless integration of electronic and mechanical components.
  • Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with vendors for PCB design, wiring harnesses, connectors, and ruggedized components.

Business Development & Client Support:

  • Trials and Demonstrations: Support trials and demonstrations.
  • Tenders and Technical Bids: Collaborate with sales and program management teams for tenders and technical bids.
  • Negotiations: Provide subject matter expertise during negotiations.

Compliance & Quality:

  • Maintain Adherence: Maintain adherence to ISO, BIS, MIL, and relevant defence standards.
  • Audit and Certification: Lead compliance audits and certification processes.
  • Quality Testing: Establish robust quality and reliability testing for electro-mechanical helmet systems.

Team Management:

  • Build Team: Build and lead a cross-functional team of engineers and QA specialists.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers in system integration, testing, and validation.

Job Specifications:

Qualification:

Minimum qualification required: B.Tech/M.Tech in Electronics Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics or equivalent.

Other Desirable Qualifications:

  • Specialization in soldier-worn systems, rugged electronics, or protective gear design.
  • Prior experience in helmet/electronic system integration.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional technical teams.
  • Familiarity with defence electronics development lifecycle.

Relevant Experience:

Minimum no. of years of relevant experience required: 12–15 years overall, with minimum 8 years in helmet or wearable electronics/mechanical integration domain.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of EMI/EMC, MIL-STD, and rugged electronics design.
  • Experience in integration of communication systems, sensors, and power modules.
  • Mechanical design experience in ergonomics, composites, and modular protective gear.
  • CAD tools.
  • Data analysis, cost estimation, and feasibility study.
  • Proven track record in defence program execution and compliance.
