As a database administrator, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases on Unisys mainframes. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration, including knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases to ensure efficient data access.
  • Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage sets, subsets, and indexes to optimize data retrieval and storage.
  • Handle database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures to prevent data loss.
  • Support schema changes and perform database reorganizations as required to maintain data integrity.
  • Assist in capacity planning to ensure data is properly allocated across environments.
  • Work closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues and implement solutions.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing to ensure compliance with backup policies and data protection standards.
  • Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls to protect sensitive data.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration, including knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Basic experience in ODBC/JDBC integration with DMSII.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
