Site Reliability Engineering Role Overview

The primary objective of this role is to design and architect solutions that ensure the reliability, scalability, and stability of software platforms. To achieve this, you will collaborate with engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle, leveraging your expertise in site reliability engineering best practices.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Kubernetes clusters hosted on cloud infrastructure to guarantee high availability and scalability.

  • Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling such as Terraform and Ansible to manage resources across AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes environments.

  • Engage with cross-functional teams to develop software that prioritizes reliability and scale, coaching them on SRE principles and methodologies.

  • Identify and troubleshoot priority incidents, facilitate blameless post-mortem analyses, and ensure permanent incident closure.

  • Analyze previous incidents and usage patterns to predict potential issues and implement proactive measures.

  • Design and promote adoption of self-healing and resiliency patterns across the organization.

  • Develop automated software and product upgrades, change management, and release management solutions.

  • Own end-to-end responsibility for tools and services, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess a combination of technical skills and experience in site reliability engineering or a related field. The following are key qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, or a related field.

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in site reliability engineering or a related field.

  • Experience with administering Kubernetes clusters.

  • Proficiency in managing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

  • Direct production operations experience in a cloud environment.

  • Ability to contribute to technology and product strategy.

  • Leadership skills to drive capability-building initiatives across various areas such as infrastructure and operations automation, observability, incident management, HA system architecture, and other core engineering disciplines.
