Senior Backend Developer

About this role:

We are looking for a skilled Senior Backend Developer to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the back-end of our web applications.

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient back-end systems using Ruby on Rails.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize requirements, define technical approaches, and implement solutions.
  • Develop high-quality code that meets business requirements and adheres to coding standards.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality code and share knowledge with team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies to recommend improvements and enhancements.

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in Ruby programming language, including language fundamentals, idioms, metaprogramming, OOP, mixins, blocks, procs, lambdas, memory management, GC tuning, and performance profiling.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, Grape, ActiveRecord, ActiveJob, ActionCable, ActiveModel validations, Engines, initializers, routing, and lifecycle callbacks.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL and advanced usage of ActiveRecord.
  • Comfortable deploying and optimizing Passenger, Thin.
  • Deeper understanding of Thread vs. process models, Connection handling, worker tuning, memory profiling.
  • Optimizing N+1 queries, indexes, and query plans.
  • Proficient with Bundler, Rake, Rubygems, Gem building and custom gem publishing.
  • Knowledge of RVM, rbenv, chruby.
