Component Manager Role

We are seeking a skilled Component Manager to join our team. As a Component Manager, you will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of all electronic and electromechanical components used in smart meter hardware.

Job Description

The Component Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality, compliance, and availability of components. This includes:

  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards such as IEC, BIS, and DLMS/COSEM.
  • Validating alternate components to reduce supply risk and optimize cost.
  • Developing automated test setups to test various hardware devices.
  • Staying updated on emerging component technologies and recommending adoption where feasible.

You will work closely with design teams, procurement, and suppliers to ensure seamless integration of components and meet business objectives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • More than 3 years of in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in comprehensive testing (including lifecycle tests and ageing) of components (electronic, electrical, mechanical, etc.) to identify, evaluate, and approve for smart meter and smart device designs.
  • Assisted R&D in selecting innovative components for next-generation smart meters.
  • A bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering (master's preferred).
  • 5–10 (max) years of experience in component engineering, hardware design, or related fields.
  • Experience in smart meter manufacturing or allied electronic manufacturing industries is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of smart meter standards (IEC, IS, DLMS/COSEM) and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in electronic supply chain, vendor qualification, and lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience with PLM tools, ERP systems, and component databases.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
