Revenue Accountant Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced revenue accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ASC 606/IFRS 15 and the ability to analyze complex contract scenarios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review customer contracts and agreements to determine appropriate revenue treatment, including multi-element arrangements and variable considerations.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Legal, and FP&A teams to assess deal structures and ensure alignment with revenue recognition policies.
  • Prepare revenue schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations for month-end and quarter-end close.
  • Analyze deferred revenue, billing schedules, and revenue forecasts to support financial reporting and audit readiness.
  • Partner with IT and finance systems teams to enhance automation and reporting capabilities related to revenue.
  • Support external audits and internal controls by providing documentation and insights into revenue processes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in revenue accounting or revenue recognition, preferably in a SaaS, technology, or services environment.
  • CPA or CA qualification is necessary.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606/IFRS 15 and practical application in complex contract scenarios is crucial.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and revenue sub-ledgers or modules is expected.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, reconciliations); experience with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau is beneficial.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities is required.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with finance, legal, and sales teams is necessary.
