Job Overview

The Assistant Manager Production role involves overseeing the dairy process and products for the dairy plant from commissioning to project closeout. This includes planning, minimizing casual labor wages, ensuring full cooperation during internal and statutory audits, and resolving technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement Good Manufacturing Practice, HACCP, Quality System, Hygienic engineering, Ergonomic engineering, etc.
  • Collaborate with Packaging, New Product Development, Production, Quality Management, and Marketing to resolve technical issues
  • Determine maintenance requirements, procedures, and checks for process lines
  • Manage a database relating to process engineering
  • Develop and prepare preventive maintenance schedules
  • Review records of preventive maintenance schedules
  • Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Correct process-related product quality and/or operational performance deviations

Functional Expectations:

  • Ensure operators and mechanics have sufficient process and plant function knowledge to optimize operation
  • Lead effective resource utilization (manpower, machine, raw material, time)
  • Manufacture products as per customer expectations within budgeted norms
  • Participate in management review meetings and contribute towards continuous improvement
  • Identify new cost-saving measures and energy management opportunities

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in PLC operation
  • Monitoring and control on production losses and optimization of production cost
  • Proper inventory management and production planning
  • Troubleshooting at plant level
  • Assign work to direct reports and ensure overall hygiene and sanitation

Accountabilities:

  • Safety of product, equipment, and personnel working in the department
  • Identify and assess training needs of subordinates
  • Evaluate feasibility of new process excellence ideas and cost efficiency programs

Leadership:

  • Provide leadership to men working in the department and be accountable for their performances
