Green Mobility Expert Wanted: Implement Road Safety and Green Mobility in Indian Cities

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated professional to manage, support, and develop strategies for cities to mitigate the adverse effects of urbanization through policy frameworks, design reviews, and viable proposal development.

This role involves playing a vital part in managing low emission zones, conducting baseline assessments of vehicular and industrial emissions, identifying vehicle categories, emission thresholds, and compliance strategies, proposing monitoring mechanisms, assessing sustainable mobility solutions, supporting roadmap preparation for EV integration, proposing policies for encouraging clean fuels, and charging infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enabling Low Emission Zones in Mathura and Vrindavan
  • Developing and operationalizing a Low Emission Zone framework tailored for Mathura.
  • Conducting baseline assessment of vehicular and industrial emissions in the city.
  • Identifying vehicle categories, emission thresholds, and compliance strategies for the LEZ.
  • Proposing monitoring mechanisms (including use of Vahan data, ANPR, on-ground enforcement).
  • Assessing and recommending sustainable mobility solutions: EV adoption pathways, public transport electrification, NMT (non-motorized transport) integration, and multimodal connectivity.
  • Supporting roadmap preparation for EV integration across municipal transport operations (buses, freight, paratransit).
  • Proposing policies for encouraging clean fuels, scrappage of end-of-life vehicles, and charging infrastructure development.
  • Working with municipal corporation, UPPCB (Pollution Control Board), RTO, traffic police, and state EV cell.
  • Conducting consultations with local businesses, citizen groups, and transport operators to ensure smooth LEZ implementation.
  • Supporting awareness and capacity-building activities.

Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in environmental science, urban planning, or design and/or allied disciplines.
  2. Proven experience working on urban spatial and/or environmental issues, preferably in air pollution control, EV policy integration, and urban design.
  3. Understanding of urban mobility challenges and policies.
  4. Excellent research, data analysis, and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work independently in a remote location, and as part of a team.
  6. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  7. Responsiveness to stakeholder needs and requirements.
  8. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and data analysis tools (e.g., ArcGIS, R).
  9. Hindi and English fluency is a must.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Experience working on green mobility, LEZ projects, or similar, in India or abroad.
  2. Knowledge of government policies and regulations related to urban design, air quality, and transportation.

Expertise in GIS mapping and data visualization tools is an added advantage.
