Internal Control Specialist Role Overview

Job Description:

The company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Internal Control Specialist to perform control testing and ensure the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing reasonable assurance that internal controls are designed and operating effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform control testing as part of the Control Monitoring Program, applying company policies, procedures, and accounting standards to evaluate new information or events and make timely decisions.
  2. Review business processes to identify opportunities for best practices and improvements, understanding data integrity concepts to maintain and assure data completeness and accuracy.
  3. Determine alternative solutions to problems, evaluate courses of action, and reach sound business decisions, documenting workpapers that describe review objectives, test procedures, and results, and conclusions reached using internal audit methodologies, procedures, and standards.
  4. Establish and maintain excellent relationships within the team and with business stakeholders, communicating effectively in a positive manner.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Understanding of US GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO framework, and leading business practices.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in a Big 4 Audit Firm or a multinational organization.
  • Prior experience in Risk & Compliance or Internal Control roles, finance experience preferred.
Technical Competencies:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and focused on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate strong organization skills.
