About the Role

This position involves working as a key member of an emerging team focused on developing and improving our innovative BNL Data Warehouse offerings.

As a Data Engineer, you will be relied upon to independently develop and deliver high-quality features and complete tasks to a high standard.

  • Develop and deliver high-quality features and finish tasks to a high standard.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide good quality readable business documentation.
  • Foster a service-oriented approach towards internal customers, focusing on delivering business value versus engineering interest.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, with a focus on data structures and algorithms, particularly backend and data engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, JVM, and Shell Scripting, with production experience.
  • Proven experience in building cloud-native data-intensive applications, including Amazon Web Services experience.
  • Experience in designing and developing data warehouses that meet business needs.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Hands-on experience in building and maintaining Spark applications.
  • Fundamental understanding of Parquet, Delta Lake, and other optimized file formats.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with observability systems (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana).
  • Strong experience in building Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes, including GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with unit testing and test automation frameworks.
