Software Developer Role Overview

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer III to join our team. As a key member of our engineering group, you will design and develop real-time and batch data platforms using the latest open-source technologies.

This role requires someone with strong programming skills, including Java, Scala, and SQL. You will work closely with data engineers to create services that can ingest and supply data to and from external sources.

About the Job:

  • You will be responsible for building and scaling stream & batch processing platforms using the latest open-source technologies.
  • You will collaborate with data engineers to deliver value to users of the platform through improved tools and services.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and deploy high-quality software applications and tools that meet business requirements.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and objectives.
  3. Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  4. Maintain and improve existing software systems to ensure they remain stable and efficient.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of software development experience with at least 2+ years of experience on open-source big data technologies.
  • Proficiency in Java, Scala, and SQL.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Apache Kafka, Kafka Streams, KSQL, Spark, and Spark Streaming.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Hive, Spark SQL, and Data Modeling.
  • Deep understanding of traditional, NoSQL, and columnar databases.
