Project Planning and Estimation

The role of a project planning and estimation engineer is to ensure the successful execution of high-rise residential projects. This involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including internal departments and external contractors, to align drawings, materials, and manpower with schedule baselines and milestones.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Resource and Schedule Planning: Aligning drawings, materials, and manpower with schedule baselines and milestones; coordinating with internal departments for execution readiness.
  2. Execution Coordination: Sharing approved schedules with site teams, highlighting critical paths, and verifying actual progress through site visits and lead/lag analysis.
  3. Progress Tracking and Documentation: Monitoring daily site activities using master bar charts; tracking drawing receipts, material requests, and maintaining stage-wise tracing reports with revision logs.
  4. Reporting and Cost Analysis: Preparing monthly progress and costing reports; supporting estimation and cash flow forecasting with accurate data inputs.
  5. Risk Management: Identifying and escalating project risks; assisting in manpower planning and ensuring adequacy to meet project timelines.
  6. Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Analyzing architectural and structural drawings to quantify civil, structural, finishing, and MEP works; developing detailed cost projections and reviewing BBS.
  7. Vendor Evaluation and Procurement: Evaluating vendor quotations, preparing cost comparisons, and supporting procurement negotiations using current market rates.
  8. Budget Tracking and Forecasting: Monitoring project budgets, updating forecasts based on scope changes, and maintaining inflation-adjusted cost databases.
  9. Cross-Departmental Coordination: Collaborating with design, execution, procurement, and finance teams to ensure alignment of estimates with project goals.
  10. Financial Risk Management: Identifying potential cost variances, maintaining historical data, and implementing mitigation strategies for financial control.
