About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Systems Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for performing design, engineering studies, maintenance and project management activities for existing/new transmission lines above 100kV.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and engineer safe transmission systems that meet current design codes and standards, evaluating and selecting structure and material types, designing wood structures, route selections for new lines, developing construction specifications and complete bid documents, directing drawing preparation and providing cost estimates.
  • Evaluate existing lines for National Electric Safety Code (NESC) compliance, safety guidelines, upgrades and modifications; provide expert witness testimony, and stay current with latest technology.
  • Develop engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates, and preliminary designs associated with initial development and budgeting of projects.
  • Develop project scoping documents, basis of design documents and project control documents for projects within and outside of our service territory.
  • Effectively utilize project management tools and software to manage costs, maintain schedules, track project progress, and manage the transmission line design projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited university required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university preferred.
  • EIT certification or commitment to actively pursue one in Illinois and/or Missouri required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or commitment to actively pursue one in Illinois and/or Missouri required.
  • New graduates will be considered.
  • Technical career path level depends on candidates credentials.
Required Skills
  • Good analytical, communications and human relations skills required.
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments/projects with varying completion dates and effectively prioritize.
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to stay abreast of current design standards and new technologies.
  • Working knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
