We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Design Engineer to join our team. This role involves working with a very experienced CPU physical design team, responsible for delivering the physical design of critical CPU units to meet challenging goals for frequency, power, and other design requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, effective communication, and excellent problem-solving abilities. They will own critical CPU units and drive them to convergence from RTL-to-GDSII - synthesis, floor-planning, place and route, timing closure, and signoff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving critical CPU units to convergence from RTL-to-GDSII
  • Understanding micro-architecture to perform feasibility studies on performance, power, and area tradeoffs
  • Developing and improving physical design methodologies and customizing recipes across various implementation steps
  • Implementing floor plan, synthesis, placement, CTS, Timing Closure, Routing, Extraction, Physical Verification, EM/IR and signoff

Preferred qualifications include 12+ years of professional experience in physical design, preferably with high-performance designs, strong experience with tools for logic synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and design checks for physical and electrical quality; familiarity with tools for schematics, layout, and circuit/logic simulation.

The position requires strong communication skills, ability to multi-task across projects, and work with geographically spread out teams. Experience in advanced sub 7nm nodes is preferred.

A good understanding of computer architecture is beneficial, as is strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to detail.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering is required.
