Job Title:

Senior Database Administrator (Big Data)


">Database Expert WantedKey Responsibilities
  1. Improve database systems by analyzing existing ones and recommending enhancements for optimal performance and security.
  2. Collaborate with the IT Manager to establish database security structures and maintain compliance with regulations such as Sox.
  3. Manage and maintain Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters to ensure high availability and performance.
  4. Administer and monitor Apache Kafka clusters, including topic management, performance tuning, and security.
  5. Perform database administration tasks for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  6. Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible for deployment, monitoring, and configuration management.
  7. Work with data engineers and developers to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity across platforms.
  8. Implement and maintain security best practices across all data platforms.
  9. Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the data stack in a timely manner.
  10. Create and maintain database access systems, including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers.
  11. Administer database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network.
  12. Tune and optimize database objects.
  13. Provide 24x7 on-call support.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field, AND a minimum of 6 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  2. Outstanding academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge.
  3. Fluency in English is required.
  4. Experience with Relational or NoSQL database technologies.
  5. Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively.
  6. Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting.
  7. Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization.
  8. Experience with Big Data Technologies supporting a broad variety of solutions, including HDFS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, SQL Server.
