Senior Database Administrator Job

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a key role in leading exciting projects to modernize legacy systems and design databases for future applications.

You will work closely with developers, IT, and business teams to ensure our data systems are secure, efficient, and ready for growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available database solutions such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Monitoring and optimizing database performance through indexing, query tuning, and storage management.
  • Leading database capacity planning, disaster recovery strategy, and backup/restore processes.
  • Implementing and enforcing database security controls including encryption, access controls, and auditing.
  • Collaborating with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support software releases and schema changes.
  • Automating routine database operations using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Managing and troubleshooting replication, clustering, and failover configurations.
  • Maintaining documentation, procedures, and standards for database systems.
  • Evaluating new database technologies and making recommendations for adoption.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in database administration, design, and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in SQL Server, with working knowledge of other RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance analysis tools.
  • Experience with HA/DR solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication).
  • Solid understanding of database security, compliance, and role-based access control.
  • Proficient in automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating DB changes into DevOps workflows.
  • Experience in cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a strong plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team setting.
