Strategic Commercial Director

We are seeking an experienced commercial professional to lead our vessel chartering activities and drive profitable employment of our fleet. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the strategic management of our chartering operations, driving revenue growth and ensuring seamless execution of contracts.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional expertise in vessel chartering, bulk carrier operations, and commercial strategy development. With strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex market movements, freight indices, and competitor activities, you will provide critical insights to support informed commercial decisions.

  • Manage chartering activities for owned bulk carriers, including spot, time charter, and contract fixtures.
  • Liaise with brokers, charterers, and operators to identify and secure cargoes and employment opportunities.
  • Negotiate charter party terms and oversee the preparation of post-fixture documentation.
  • Monitor market movements, freight indices, and competitor activities to support commercial decisions.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as operations, technical, and legal teams to ensure seamless contract execution.
  • Analyze voyage results, evaluate profitability, and contribute to performance and market reporting.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of fixtures, voyage outcomes, and client interactions.
  • Provide market insights and feedback to senior management for strategic planning.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in commercial shipping or vessel chartering, with exposure to bulk carriers.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, or a related discipline.

A strong network of industry contacts and excellent communication skills will be essential in representing the company at client meetings, industry events, and networking platforms to enhance business development.
