Simulation Software Engineer

The simulation environment is a critical component of the Ovation distributed control system. It serves as a training ground for operators and engineers, facilitating analysis/design/testing and future real-time applications. The models used in this environment are built from differential/algebraic equations that describe steady-state, transient, and startup/cold conditions of equipment being modeled.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborating with mathematical model designers to integrate plant equipment designs into the Ovation environment.
  • Implementing models (equations, structures, architecture) in .NET (C#).
  • Fixing bugs and adding new features to existing models.
  • Supporting project engineering teams in debugging software-related issues.
  • Developing and expanding existing product features.
  • Creating design documents, user documentation etc.
  • Building and delivering solutions that meet internal and external stakeholder requirements & customer expectations.
  • Providing timely and helpful information to individuals across the organization.

What We're Looking For:

You should be able to promote shared goals, take action quickly in evolving situations, seek input from pertinent sources, and make well-informed decisions. Experience with risk management when outcomes are uncertain is also desirable.

Requirements Include:

  • Outstanding .NET development skills and experience.
  • 4-7 years of experience with at least 3 years in simulation software development.
  • Strong experience in related software development.
  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server or equivalent source code control systems.
  • Knowledge of physics.
  • Knowledge of numerical methods for solving differential/algebraic equations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with numerical-intensive simulation/engineering/physics application development.
  • Knowledge of power plants.
  • Knowledge of control theory and/or power plant control experience.
  • Excellent English written and verbal skills.
