Cyber Security Specialist

About the Role:

This is a senior-level position responsible for leading the organization's cybersecurity operations and incident response efforts.

The successful candidate will oversee a team of local and remote members, managing daily security monitoring and investigation tasks, as well as responding to security incidents in a timely and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review proposed change requests for firewalls, router access control lists, IPS, and proxies to ensure they align with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Audit deployed rulesets to identify drift from baseline configurations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform real-time security monitoring for potential cybersecurity threats, utilizing tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR solutions.
  • Analyze alerts and coordinate responses with senior analysts to ensure timely and effective incident response.
  • Triage potential security incidents according to SOC case handling procedures to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Improve services by identifying and correcting problems and gaps in knowledge, and implementing process improvements to enhance overall security posture.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Routing, HTTP, DNS, SMTP) and experience working with Unix/Linux/Windows Operating Systems.
  • Network, CCNA, SIEM, Security certifications, and working knowledge of network security technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS Solutions, Network Monitoring Solutions, Switch/Router ACLs, Network Access Control solutions, Web Application Firewalls, Proxy Servers, and Secure Web Gateway.
  • 5+ years experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and other security technologies, with a proven track record of success in similar roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
