About this role:
As a Public Health Engineer, you will be responsible for using data, tools, and technology to add value to our projects. You will receive technical training on the job through performing tasks with no supervision and question conventional work methodology.
You will author competent technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality and develop broad technical competence. You will also be able to check work of all those in the project team and lead by example, supervising juniors on CDM, Safe by Design principles, and AtkinsRéalis' SMS procedures for projects.
Additionally, you will participate in updating the PAT Tool for a project, lead the application of digital technology on projects, and act as an Information Manager on medium projects or design manager on smaller projects.
Key responsibilities include independently delivering work, integrating with larger project teams, producing effort estimates for tasks, and applying professional knowledge and experienced judgment to single discipline projects within your domain.
You will also detail appropriate actions and adopt new plans in response to changing circumstances and be familiar with the commercial aspects of project management.
Finally, you will present/represent your work and that of your colleagues on the projects (presentations/meetings) to clients, share lessons learned and best practice, and proactively lead knowledge share sessions within the practice.
Qualifications and Skills">We are looking for candidates with relevant professional qualifications or who demonstrate very good progress towards these, such as CEng, RIBA, CEnv, P.Eng, P.E, or APM etc.
Required skills include taking on the responsibility as an L&D coordinator, early career mentor, or digital champion within your own discipline, demonstrating an understanding of people management issues, and leading or co-leading business initiatives.
Other essential skills include maintaining a focused mindset, orchestrating several concurrent requests effortlessly, especially when under pressure, and having good exposure to and involvement with clients.
Preferred skills include taking up the responsibilities of a line manager and managing a small team, implementing Sustainability or Net Zero initiatives in all projects, issuing clear and precise instructions to lesser-experienced team members, and identifying where changes to contractual arrangements occur.
