Job Title

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience running MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in large environments.

  • Ensure database infrastructure reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with application teams to integrate solutions seamlessly with database systems.
  • Analyze solutions and implement best practices for supported datastores, primarily MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Develop and enforce database security, backup, and recovery best practices.
  • Work on observability of relevant database metrics and ensure database objectives are met.
  • Provide database expertise to engineering teams through reviews of database migrations, queries, and performance optimizations.
  • Work with peers to roll out changes to the production environment and mitigate database-related production incidents.
  • Automate database infrastructure and provide self-service tools to support engineering success.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations with the team.
  • Support and debug database production issues across services and levels of the stack.
  • Document actions to turn learnings into repeatable actions and automation.
  • Perform regular system monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to ensure scalability.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • 4-8 years of experience running MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in large environments.
  • Awareness of cloud infrastructure, including AWS/GCP.
  • Knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL internals.
  • Load balancing solution knowledge, such as ProxySQL, to distribute database traffic efficiently.
  • Tools and methods for monitoring database performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional team work.
Nice-to-Haves

  • Caching knowledge (Redis/ElastiCache).
  • Scripting language knowledge (Python).
  • Infrastructure automation knowledge (Terraform/Ansible).
  • DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline familiarity.
