Job Overview

The Medical Device Literature Librarian plays a pivotal role in identifying and retrieving published information on clinical safety and performance outcomes for medical devices.

This position requires a strong understanding of biomedical databases, Boolean search strategies, and systematic review methodologies.

  • Conduct comprehensive literature searches across various databases to compile relevant data.
  • Apply rigorous inclusion/exclusion criteria to screen abstracts and full texts, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Identify and collate key elements such as population, intervention, comparison, outcomes, and study design to inform decision-making.

Maintain precise documentation, including PRISMA flow diagrams and audit trails, to facilitate transparency and accountability.

Utilize tools like EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero to organize and manage references efficiently.

Perform article ordering through ReprintsDesk, CCC, Article Galaxy to streamline the procurement process.

Collaborate with medical writers, regulatory affairs, and clinical teams to understand literature needs and preferences.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • PhD in Life Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field to provide expertise and knowledge.
  • Strong experience with biomedical databases and Boolean search strategies to ensure effective searching.
  • Familiarity with systematic review methodologies to conduct thorough reviews.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills to maintain precision and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate collaboration and coordination.
