Senior Legal Specialist

The Senior Legal Specialist will be a key member of the legal leadership team, working closely with the Group Chief Legal Officer (GCLO) to provide strategic guidance on all aspects of legal affairs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert legal advice on a broad range of issues to influence strategic decision-making.
  2. Assist with litigation strategy and manage outside counsel relationships.
  3. Oversee the legal aspects of business operations.
  4. Provide legal support in business acquisition and project life cycle management.
  5. Lead funding transactions from a legal perspective and guide external legal counsels.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Corporate Deals: Lead equity deals and ensure closure of deals and resolution of outstanding issues with third parties.
  2. Contracts: Manage the contracts function from the Legal team, involving drafting, negotiations, and finalization of contracts with EPC vendors, suppliers, consultants, etc.
  3. M&A/ Corporate Finance: Defend indemnity claims related to corporate funding and sale of assets transactions, draft responses to indemnity notices, and support the Corporate Finance team in SPV governance.
  4. Litigations: Support decision-making regarding strategic litigations and lead litigations as advised by the GCLO or management.
  5. Business Acquisition: Assist the Business Acquisition team in participating in competitive bids, including review of bid documents, issuing detailed risk analysis, addressing queries, vetting bid proposals, reviewing communications, due diligence of SPVs prior to acquisition, and issuance of in-house legal opinions.
  6. Policy Advocacy: Provide general legal advisory on strategy and interpretation of draft/new regulations, review proposed standard bidding documents, and assist the policy advocacy team in communicating with authorities.
  7. Formulation of Processes/SOPs/Strategy Documents: Develop processes, SOPs, and strategy documents per business requirements to streamline processes and mitigate company risk exposure.
  8. Legal Advisory: Provide day-to-day legal advice to business teams.

Qualifications

A law graduate from a reputable law school, with work experience of around 15+ years in multinational companies, preferably in the power/infrastructure/energy sectors. A mix of in-house and law firm experience is desirable.
