Accounting Operations Role

Mission:

The primary objective of this position is to provide support to the Accounting department in producing accurate and timely financial statements.

Authority:

This role reports to the Accounting Senior Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and record detailed AP, AR, and other general accounting transactions.
  • Review and account AP & corporate expense reports.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with tax filings.
  • Support revenue recognition & refunds.
  • Review monthly Income Statement and provide explanations for P&L account fluctuations.
  • Process weekly check runs for vendor payments.
  • Request and maintain W-9/W-8 information for vendors and record new vendor information into NetSuite.
  • Create necessary AP accrual journal entries and monthly deferral entries.
  • Coordinate 1099 filings.
  • Audit Assistance:
    • Prepare AP and other Accounting documents requested for audit.
    • Work directly with auditors on any questions.
    • Perform walkthroughs of Accounting tasks as requested by auditors.
  • Fixed Assets:
    • Evaluate the accuracy of Fixed Assets additions and retirements.
    • Maintain the Fixed Assets Module.
    • Verify that all assets are depreciated monthly.
    • Verify the accuracy of monthly depreciation journal entries.
    • Create all necessary retirement entries.
  • Government & Business Filings:
    • Ensure government filings and business renewals are filed on time.
    • Maintain a Business Filings document.
    • Collaborate with a tax consultant.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Assist management with special projects as needed.
    • Work with various departments as information is required from the accounting department.
    • Assist the accounting/finance department in ad hoc tasks and/or projects.
