Job Title: Senior Design Specialist

Overview:

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional design skills, combined with a passion for innovation and manufacturability. As a senior design specialist, you will play a critical role in shaping our product development strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design new products from conceptual ideas, ensuring they are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Support the development of standard products and special projects for customers.
  • Produce detailed documentation and release it into our systems.

Work You'll Do:

  1. Develop intricate designs that meet customer needs.
  2. Conduct thorough cost analyses for new or existing designs.
  3. Ensure the availability of proposed components for each design.
  4. Create/revise drawings, models, and assemblies using UGNX from markups, layouts, or verbal instructions.
  5. Source raw materials, calculate weight and volume.
  6. Perform calculations such as center of gravity, bend, and stress moments.
  7. Verify the mechanical fit of all components in an assembly.
  8. Coordinate the creation of item details, including type (make vs. purchase), manufacturability, and bill of materials.
  9. Maintain and release data/drawings in ERP/PDM, and other business systems.
  10. Prepare project-related reports.
  11. Self-check completed assignments and cross-check co-workers' completed assignments.
  12. Perform electrical tasks when necessary.
  13. Estimate time and resources required for incoming projects.
  14. Coordinate activities for yourself and other team members on shared assignments, produce high-quality work, and meet deadlines.
  15. Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure manufacturability and resolve fabrication difficulties.
  16. Work with purchasing personnel and vendors to improve purchased components.
  17. Interact with project and product engineering teams.
  18. Respond to ERs (Engineering Requests) or equivalent for product corrections and improvements.
  19. Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.
  20. Some travel to vendor and customer sites is required.
  21. Additional duties as assigned.
