Senior Food Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Food Scientist to lead our research and development efforts in beverage product formulation, testing, and innovation. This role is responsible for establishing R&D processes, managing external labs and suppliers, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building a future-facing product pipeline.

The successful candidate will have a Master's or PhD in Food Technology, Food Science, or Nutrition, with a proven track record of developing and launching beverage products. They will possess expertise in food chemistry, sensory science, nutrition, and functional ingredients, as well as strong knowledge of FSSAI and international regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Innovation Roadmap: Define the innovation roadmap for beverages aligned with brand vision.
  • R&D Leadership: Build and lead an R&D function (scientists, food technologists, lab partnerships).
  • Trend Analysis: Stay ahead of global beverage trends, functional ingredients, and health sciences.
  • Product Formulation: Formulate and optimize beverages for nutrition, flavour, cost, and shelf-life.
  • Innovation: Innovate with functional ingredients (proteins, adaptogens, botanicals, natural sweeteners, probiotics, etc.).
  • Pilot Trials: Run pilot trials, sensory studies, and consumer testing before scaling.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure FSSAI compliance for all products and validate nutrition/health claims.
  • Food Safety: Manage food safety testing, certifications, and quality standards.
  • Supply Chain: Partner with manufacturing units and co-packers to scale formulations.
  • Solving Complexities: Solve for stability, packaging, and supply chain compatibility.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing for claims, positioning, and product storytelling.
  • Cost Optimization: Collaborate with Operations/Finance on cost optimization and sourcing.
  • Innovation Updates: Present innovation updates to founders and investors.
