Job Title: SQL Server Database Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and performance of our SQL Server instances across on-premises and cloud platforms.

Your primary focus will be on installing, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server instances, as well as monitoring database performance and proactively resolving performance bottlenecks. You will also be responsible for executing regular database backups, restores, and recovery operations, implementing and managing SQL Server security, optimizing SQL queries and indexes, troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues, designing and maintaining HA/DR solutions, and automating routine DBA tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across on-premises and cloud platforms.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Backup and Recovery: Execute regular database backups, restores, and recovery operations.
  • Security Management: Implement and manage SQL Server security, including authentication, roles, and permissions.
  • Query Optimization: Optimize SQL queries and indexes to improve performance and scalability.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including system outages and latency.
  • HA/DR Solutions: Design and maintain HA/DR solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Replication, Clustering).
  • Automation: Automate routine DBA tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, or other scripting tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA supporting SQL Server 2012, 2016, 2019, and/or 2022.
  • T-SQL Expertise: Expertise in T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Backup/Restore/Recovery Models: Deep understanding of backup/restore/recovery models and best practices.
  • HA/DR Configurations: Hands-on experience with HA/DR configurations.
  • Monitoring Tools: Proficiency with monitoring and diagnostic tools like SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and third-party tools (e.g., Redgate, SolarWinds).
  • Performance Tuning: Strong background in performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Cloud-Based SQL Environments: Exposure to cloud-based SQL environments such as Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, or AWS RDS.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to document technical processes effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar certification.
  • SQL Server Integration Services: Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • CI/CD Practices: Familiarity with CI/CD practices for database deployments and DevOps principles.
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
