Senior Associate Job Description

This role involves handling tax matters including preparation of submissions, replies to notices, appeals and representation during appeals with seniors.

We are seeking a qualified professional who can assist clients in responding to the department during enquiry, investigation and audit.

  • Prepare reply to Show cause notice/audit replies.
  • Meet with tax officers for hearing as and when required.
  • Prepare tax appeals to be filed at the Joint Commissioner (Appeals)
  • Prepare tax appeals to be filed at the Court (i.e. Tribunal, High Court / Supreme Court)
  • Assist seniors for representation before various judicial forums.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on various topics.

Client Service Delivery/Execution:

  • Identify and discuss technical issues with clients while being mindful of firm risk issues.
  • Execute work on a multiple client base, assuming near independent responsibility for smaller clients.
  • Develop rapport with middle layers of client management.

Develops Commercial Acumen:

  • Stay abreast of firm wide and competitor activities and general business trends.
  • Apply knowledge to deliver solutions to clients and bring value.

Networking & Identification of Opportunities:

  • Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate to senior.
  • Network internally within the peer group and other levels in the firm to gain understanding of issues that may impact clients.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent Communication and Drafting Skills.
  • Strong Analytical and researching skills.
  • Proactive, reliable and with an attention to details.

Experience and Education:

  • Law Graduate from a known Law School with a strong academic track record.
  • 1-3 years of post-qualification experience in Indirect Tax would be preferred i.e. GST, Customs, etc.
