Job Summary:

Manage big data platforms on-premises and in the cloud.

Administer and monitor Hadoop, Hive, HBase, BigSQL, and other components of the Big Data Platform.

Support technical and application teams with requests for data copies across environments, data cleanup, query tuning, and troubleshooting issues related to user queries and application jobs.

Monitor and troubleshoot the Big Data Platform, including hosted databases, tools, and services.

Implement encryption zones, manage encryption keys, and copy data between zones.

Support projects and initiatives related to data acquisition, processing, and utilization through the Big Data Platform.

Maintain and support the Big Data Platform, CDP Private Cloud, and IBM BigSQL across multiple environments.

Install new versions, patches, and upgrades of CDP Private Cloud and IBM BigSQL.

Monitor and troubleshoot platform issues and performance tuning.

Ensure security policies, documentation, and compliance.

Document processes and policies for Hadoop System Administration Platform support activities.

Collaborate with end-users to resolve issues and work with vendors as needed.

Provide governance and support to project teams.

Upgrade CDP Private Cloud to CDP Public Cloud.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
  • At least 35 years of experience in the Hadoop ecosystem, including HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, HBase, Spark, Scala, Yarn, Sqoop, Ranger, Knox, Kerberos, LDAP, SOLR, Java, Linux/Unix, Security Scripting and Automation, R, Python, Flume, Storm, Kafka, IBM BigSQL, and MySQL.
  • Experience with administration and performance tuning of Hadoop distributions, both open-source and commercial.
  • Strong understanding of data lake concepts and Big Data capabilities.
  • Good understanding of data virtualization, replication, and Data G.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud-based PaaS/SaaS environments and AWS EMR.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Dataiku.
