Strategic Product Director

About the Role:

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Strategic Product Director to drive software delivery lifecycle from conception to release, iteration and maintenance, driving the right product portfolio for the experience and prioritizing work in backlogs to ensure products are delivering to experience expectations. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in Product or Capability management roles, leading and managing teams, working directly with and influencing senior management teams, and developing business cases, product or capability requirements, roadmaps, and comprehensive budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Vision & Strategy: Defines experience outcomes, business impacts, and strategic roadmaps, building the business cases and leading stakeholder alignment for the experience strategy, setting the vision by communicating, building and refining the backlog of projects & features while collecting input from stakeholders.
  • Delivery: Leads a Digital Product organization to drive software delivery lifecycle from conception to release, iteration and maintenance, driving the right product portfolio for the experience and prioritizing work in backlogs to ensure products are delivering to experience expectations.
  • Outcomes: Maintains a clear vision on the highest value experience backlog items and makes trade-offs based on team capacity to determine the backlog, continually re-prioritizing team tasks based on new information from the team, discussing with stakeholders, and likelihood to drive business outcomes.
  • Research & Human Centered Design: Partners closely with the UX team to leverage human-centered design in the creation of amazing experiences that consumers will love, bringing together strategy and execution.
  • Experience Analytics: Partners closely with Consumer Experience & Resolution to identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement using data analytics, as well as customer/colleague feedback and pain points.
  • Results & Metrics: Defines, tracks and monitors Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), ensuring correct data and instrumentation for the experience and related sub-processes, using data to improve experiences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of experience in Product or Capability management roles
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing teams
  • 5+ years of experience working directly with and influencing senior management teams
  • 5+ years of experience developing business cases
  • 5+ years of experience developing product or capability requirements
  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing roadmaps
  • 5+ years of experience in program management
  • 5+ years of experience preparing and managing comprehensive budgets
  • 5+ years of experience with agile framework
  • Experience leading strategic initiatives in highly matrixed environment
  • Experience developing and implementing organizational policies and procedures
  • Proven analytical skills
