Machine Learning Backend Engineer

This is a full-time hybrid role for an experienced software engineer in developing and maintaining backend architecture, software development, implementing machine learning algorithms, ensuring efficient performance, and collaborating with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for building robust backend systems & APIs to deploy and scale ML solutions. They will work with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS) to design cost-efficient, high-availability ML pipelines and scalable cloud-supported backend solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Backend Architecture: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and efficient backend systems using AWS services.
  • Implement Machine Learning Algorithms: Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models to solve real-world problems, using tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, DVC, Airflow, and Prefect.
  • Collaborate with Front-end Developers: Work closely with front-end engineers to integrate user-facing elements, ensure seamless user experience, and implement responsive designs.
  • Work with Founders and Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with founders and cross-functional teams to drive product development, resolve technical issues, and contribute to end-to-end product delivery.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's / Master's degree in CS, Data Science, AI/ML; 1-3 years of experience in backend development, with a focus on building scalable, distributed systems.
  • Technical Skills: Strong programming skills in MERN, Python, Golang, Java; knowledge of PostgreSQL, NoSQL/MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, GitHub/GitLab, code reviews, unit testing, CI/CD pipelines.
  • MLOps and Infrastructure: Familiarity with ML lifecycle workflows, experiment tracking, orchestration, versioning, collaboration, cloud computing (AWS SageMaker/Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI, Azure AI), containerization (Docker), and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Soft Skills: Ability to write clean, modular, and scalable code with strong debugging and testing discipline; adaptability, curiosity, hands-on mindset; startup-ready attitude; strong ownership and problem-solving skills; eager to push Generative AI into real-world adoption.
