Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and reviewing complex tax returns for financial services clients, including hedge funds, private equity, and blocker corporations.
  • Reviewing state tax returns for financial services clients.
  • Identifying international filing requirements by analyzing organizational charts and reviewing international tax returns.
  • Training staff on tax concepts, technology, and providing timely feedback on project reviews.
  • Leading kick-off calls to understand client needs, connecting with US counterparts, and resolving budget and resource conflicts.
  • Guiding staff on potential tax adjustments due to law changes and e-filing validations.
  • Recruiting, training, evaluating performance, and mentoring team members.
  • Collaborating with US counterparts to ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Facilitating trainings and developing materials for technical topics.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Ability to conduct independent tax research in unexpected scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to learn new tax software.
  • Quick learner, positive attitude, and a team player.
  • Availability to work long hours during busy seasons.
  • Able to meet deadlines and prioritize projects based on urgency.
  • Skilled at multitasking and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective at training and supervising staff, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Ability to guide subordinates through technical challenges.
  • Strong relationships with peers, supervisors, and US colleagues.

Position requirements:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) certification.
  • Experience in detailed review of tax returns.
  • Familiarity with tax software, such as CCh Axcess Tax, Gofile room, and Case ware.
  • At least 5+ years of experience, with significant experience in financial services tax returns.
