Video Engineering Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Video Engineering Lead to oversee the development of our video processing features. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building scalable, high-performance systems and a strong background in video technologies.

The Video Engineering Lead will be responsible for designing and implementing complex backend solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior engineers. Additionally, this role will involve troubleshooting and resolving production issues, as well as conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable backend solutions for video processing features, including encoding, transcoding, and adaptive streaming.
  • Collaborate with Product and QA teams to refine requirements, design solutions, and deliver impactful features.
  • Serve as a technical leader within the team, making architectural and design decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term scalability and maintainability.
  • Mentor junior engineers by providing code reviews, design feedback, and technical guidance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science from a top-tier institution.
  • Over 7 years of backend software development experience, with a strong emphasis on distributed systems and video processing.
  • Proficient in backend technologies such as Python, Java, or Go, with experience in building scalable, high-performance systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with video technologies, including video codecs (H.264, H.265, VP9, AV1) and compression techniques.
  • Experience with tools like FFmpeg, GStreamer, or similar multimedia frameworks.
  • A proven track record of serving as a tech lead and managing complex initiatives within the team.
