Purpose and Scope:

The role of the Lead Programmer Analyst is to provide technical expertise and programming support to a range of projects, clients, and therapeutic areas. This involves manipulating large databases and generating reports to enable analysts to explore real-world healthcare data assets.

Key Responsibilities:

The study programmer position will be responsible for implementing complex logic, creating complex analysis datasets derived from various data sources with a careful eye for outliers and errors. The ideal candidate must have excellent programming skills in R and SQL, as well as experience with advanced statistical methods such as survival and regression.

  • Proficiency in SAS programming is also acceptable, but R programming is preferred.
  • We are open to any therapeutic area experience, but prior experience working on rare diseases is a plus.
  • Real-world healthcare claims database experience is essential, with equivalent EU database experience such as Optum or US MarketScan being acceptable.
  • OMOP-Common Data Model experience is highly desirable, even with limited experience.
  • Strong communication, time management, enthusiasm, and documentation skills are essential for this position.

Technical Requirements:

Proficient in R and SQL programming, with expertise in Oncology databases such as Flatiron and COTA. A good understanding of Oncology-specific analyses, including Line of Therapy algorithms, Survival analysis, and different statistical models, is also required. Experience with Analytic Datasets, patient cohorts, and tools such as R Shiny or Instant Health Data (IHD) is desirable.

Leadership and Collaboration:

Effective leadership and collaboration are crucial for this role. The ideal candidate should be able to lead internal and client study team meetings, present study updates internally and at client meetings, and share scientific, technical, and practical knowledge within the team and with colleagues.

Qualifications and Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another subject with high statistical content is required. Minimum 7-8 years of SAS statistical programming experience, database programming using SQL, and experience with advanced statistical methods such as survival and regression are also necessary.

Additional Qualifications:

A Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or another subject with high statistical content is desirable. Training or experience using the OMOP Common Data Model, Python, R, Databricks, or other cloud-based software, pharmaceutical industry experience, and training or experience in epidemiological methods are also beneficial.
