Job Overview:

A highly skilled and experienced Database Architect is required to design, develop, and maintain high-performance database systems that handle large volumes of financial data.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement database schemas for storing and retrieving time-series financial data.
  • Develop and optimize ETL processes for ingesting real-time market data from various sources.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across all databases.
  • Write robust APIs for programmatic access to historical and real-time market data.
  • Implement data retrieval services with high throughput and low-latency queries.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Engineer, Data Architect, or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Solid programming skills in Python, Java, or C++.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and related database services.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and unique challenges of handling market data.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.

System Performance and Scalability:

  • Architect and manage database solutions capable of handling extremely high write and read loads associated with tick-by-tick data.
  • Implement advanced performance tuning techniques, including indexing, query optimization, and caching strategies.

Database Maintenance and Monitoring:

  • Monitor database performance, conduct regular health checks, and troubleshoot issues in a high-pressure environment.
  • Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.

Staying Current:

  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in database management and big data.
